Casey Clark

I am the Walrus!

About the Speaker

Casey Clark has been studying the biology and ecology of marine mammals for nearly 15 years. He is currently in the process of completing his doctoral degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he has been investigating the impacts of climate change on Pacific walruses. Before coming to Alaska, Casey earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Cruz and a master’s degree from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. Casey’s research interests are broad, and his previous experiences range from counting coral-eating sea stars in French Polynesia to measuring pregnancy rates of humpback whales off California. In recent years, Casey’s focus has shifted to the Arctic, where the effects of climate change and sea ice loss are substantially impacting natural systems and where marine mammals are not only ecologically significant, but are also important subsistence resources for Northern peoples.
