About the Speaker
Desiree Jackson is the Executive Director at Goldbelt Heritage Foundation. She is of Tlingit descent and belongs to the Tsaagweidi clan. Desiree is a Registered Dietitian (RD) who specializes in Alaska Native traditional and customary diet. She holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with an Emphasis in Strategic Leadership. With over 20 years of tribal health experience, Desiree has authored books on the benefits of traditional diet and the nutrient content of Alaska Native foods. Utilizing social media and videography, she has developed award-winning campaigns showcasing the preservation of Alaska Native diet and culture. Desiree has applied her MBA in Strategic Leadership to develop region-wide, multi-tribal housing plans, while developing funding to build new affordable housing in 10 tribal communities. In addition, she has created University level curriculum and taught coursework around effective community interventions and lifespan nutrition.
