About the Speaker

David Kanosh is also called by his Tlingit name Yooḵis'kooḵéik, and hails from Shdeen Hít (Steel House), of the Deisheetaan clan.

David had been taught from an early age to memorize a vast amount of stories and to recite them, which he has shared with anthropologists, new storytellers, and Sealaska Heritage Institute.

David has also most recently written the foreword to anthropologist Dr Lynne Kelly's book "The Knowledge Gene"
