SCIENTISTS IN SCHOOLS

Scientists in the School (SIS) was a program born out of Sitka WhaleFest. Scientists collaborate with local teachers to bring unique and engaging learning opportunities that reflect current research. Thanks to funding and support from a USDA grant through the University of Alaska Southeast this program has been able to grown beyond its roots. Although it is still a part of Sitka WhaleFest scientists now visit each class at every grade level in Sitka’s schools throughout the whole year.
