About the Speaker

Ben Burford is currently a Ph.D student at Stanford University. His research utilizes in situ footage, scientific surveys, animal-borne data loggers, oceanographic data and molecular techniques to understand the migratory behaviors, environmental drivers and impacts of the movements of Pacific squids. Prior to enrolling in his Ph.D program he earned a bachelors of science in field and wildlife biology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After graduating he worked for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in deep sea and anadromous fish ecology.
