About the Speaker
Leslee Matsushige has been the Associate Curator for the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego for the past 26 years. She has specialized in husbandry of seahorses and seadragons for 20 years now. Her initiation of the seahorse propagation program has provided more than 3,000 seahorses to over 80 institutions. The propagation program was so successful it lead the Birch Aquarium to open its very popular seahorse exhibit. Then in 2012 the propagation project was expanded to include the Seadragon Propagation Project. Both of these programs are part of the Birch Aquariums conservation initiatives.
