About the Speaker
Macy Rae Kenworthy is a 2014 graduate of Mt. Edgecumbe High School. She grew up in Kotzebue and spent summers at her family camp where her love for the outdoors grew. While in high school, Macy became scientifically involved and studied as much as she could. Following graduation, Macy started attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she is now pursuing her bachelor's degree in Digital Journalism through distance education. Macy Rae is a former US Arctic Youth Ambassador, a program by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Department of State, and Alaska Geographic. During her time as an Arctic Youth Ambassador, she received numerous opportunities to educate others on climate change and the impact it has on rural Arctic communities and cultures. She is also the reigning Miss Arctic Circle and uses that platform to focus on youth involvement and education.
